Ana Belaval established herself as a leader in the world of broadcast journalism with more than 20 years of experience in both Spanish-language and English-language markets. As a young student in Puerto Rico, she dreamed of coming to the mainland and working at a major network. That dream came true in 1996 when she landed the role as a reporter on the local Univision station. Her professional, empathetic delivery of the news and her delightfully charming personality soon caught the attention of senior management in Miami. In 2001, Ana was recruited to join the team of Despierta America, the number one Spanish-language show in the United States, as the East Coast correspondent. 

Ana thrived at Univision, but her inner voice kept nagging her to challenge herself in the English-language broadcast market. In 2005, Ana began sending her demo tape to several stations in major markets. Ironically enough, the news director of the number one morning show in Chicago saw Ana’s demo tape – in Spanish – and was so taken by her vivacious energy and obvious charm that he brought her in for an interview. That was 17 years ago. Since then, Ana has become Chicago’s Very Own darling of morning TV, highlighting the entertaining and curious offerings around town. Oh, and earning 4 Emmy awards along the way too. WEPA!!!!  

In addition to her journalistic accomplishments, Ana is also a stand-up comedian. With more than 10 years under her belt. Performing in Spanish, English, and Espanglish to the side-splitting delight of audiences everywhere. And in response to viewer’s joy over a frequent comment of hers, Ana launched “Estoy Cute” – a line of bright and bold merchandise meant to empower people to love themselves first.   

Despite the above, Ana’s greatest accomplishment remains her family. Every day, she invests in her loving marriage of 20 years to her devoted husband, Steve. Together, they are raising two bright and creative children in a bilingual/bicultural world that celebrates differences, where respect is mutual, and possibilities are sin límite.
