Since 2017, PRAA has hosted the Noche Caribeña concert at Navy Pier’s Polk Bros Park Lake Stage Lawn. In partnership with Navy Pier, this summertime event is FREE and open to the public. Featured are Cuatristas along with international and local artists with their groups, as well as, up and coming musicians. This concert offers audience members multiple music genres including Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean folk, popular Latin American, big band, salsa, ballads, bomba and plena interpretations. Set with a backdrop of Navy Pier, spectacular views of Chicago and the resonances of music draw Chicago residents and visitors for an enjoyable evening concert.

This year on August 14, 2021 PRAA was honored to present to you some of the most prominent local music artists from Chicago.

Conjunto Borikén

Conjunto Borikén is Chicago's hottest emerging Puerto Rican conjunto style band with an extraordinary line-up of Chicago's most talented and seasoned musicians. Their passion is to express authentic old-school conjunto salsa music with sounds of our beloved island, Puerto Rico. Conjunto Borikén performs regularly for various venues across the Chicagoland area and strives to satisfy both listener and dancers alike with its captivating vocal harmonies and swinging rhythm section. Afinca’o

Afinca’o is an emerging group of passionate and experienced musicians from the Chicagoland area. Staying true to their roots, the Spanish meaning of their name, Afinca’o was created to bring together some of Chicago’s most musically sound and talented musicians. Though diverse in their musical repertoire, Afinca’o is noted for their Salsa, Cha-Cha, Latin Jazz, and even some Merengue performances. Adding to the group’s appeal, each of the members have played with world-renowned Latin recording artists, including Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Enrique, Victor Manuelle, N’Klabe, Frankie Negron, Eddie Santiago, and many more, all of which help cement the group’s reputable experience. Afinca’o performs for all types of venues and events, so long as they are able to share their spirit and passion for music with all those willing to listen…and dance!

The Latin Music Project

The Latin Music Project provides youth and children of color the opportunity to access affordable, heritage-based, music classes taught by conservatory-trained instructors. Students graduating from the Latin Music Project are well positioned to continue their pursuit of music at higher learning institutions - and to become the next generation of professional musicians for classical and other pop music orchestras. The Latin Music Project Ensemble is a selection of students who have successfully progressed through the Latin Music Project’s rigorous music programs and have reached an advanced level of artistic achievement. The Latin Music Project Ensemble continues to have a meaningful impact throughout the community and bring awareness to Latin American music and culture in Chicago.
