Desde Mi Barrio (From my Neighborhood) is a concert series presented by Puerto Rican Arts Alliance’s the Latin Music Project. This series features local and national musicians while celebrating the rich music of Puerto Rico and other Latinx cultures.

Frankie’s People

FRANK A. DIAZ is currently a guitarist and songwriter, with more than 65 compositions in his songbook. He leads 'Frankie's People,' a six-piece band featuring boleros and folk music from Puerto Rico and Cuba. 'Frankie's People' is his third band in his 15 years as a bandleader.

Cuerdas Clásicas

In 1976, Rodolfo Hernandez became the founder and Director of “Cuerdas Clásicas”.  The group was established as a non-for-profit organization interpreting various genres of music including classical, semi-classical, instrumental, Mexican folkloric and estudiantina.  

Throughout 45 years, the group has been able to thrive with the generosity of individual donations from the general public, academic institutions, local businesses as well as city grants. The group’s primary mission is to promote the arts, traditions andculture of Latin America through its music for the generations to come by providing music lessons. 

Cuerdas Clásicas celebrates their Anniversary the month of November by organizing a gala concert.  These concerts have included participants such as Guadalupe Pineda, “La Estudiantina de la Universidad de Guanajuato”, “La Orquesta de Camara de la Universidad de Guanajuato”, “La Rondalla de Saltillo” de la Universidad Autonoma Agraria Antonio Narro, “Trio Minueto”from Durango, “Sones de Mexico”, “Los Sembradores” from Saltillo, and “Mayorales”.

In 2017, Cuerdas Clásicas participated with the Chicago Sinfonietta at Orchestra Hall for a special performance in celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

Milly Santiago

Milly Santiago, one of Chicago’s best local music artists, will grace once again the Juan & Gladys Mendez Music Hall.

 

Edward Carpio

Edward Carpio, singer and musician will join Milly Santiago for the first time at this year’s Desde Mi Barrio Concert Series.

Yendrys Céspedes Carballosa

Yendrys, Cuban Musician, graduated in 1994 from the specialty of Choir and Ensemble Direction at the Jose María Ochoa Conservatory in Holguín Cuba. He is pianist, arranger, composer, musical director of shows for more than 10 years.

Danny Feliciano

Danny has been playing for about 15 years with the most acclaimed bands in Chicago, has been selected as one of the local musicians to accompany famous salsa stars from New York, Florida, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela to mention a few.
