Studio Arts
Mural Project in session now!
We are currently in session with our first ever mural project. We are proud of our students who have been working hard to finish creating a 5' x 16' traveling mural during the past few weeks. Be sure to come and visit us during the official unveiling of this beautiful mural during our Mural ceremony at 2pm on Friday August 6th 2010. The Studio Arts program aims to facilitate workshops where the students could learn and experience the cultural wealth of The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance and also learn the creative process in mural design execution, multiple painting techniques, basic color and gradient theory, and most importantly the arts of a team effort and collaboration.
PROGRAMMING NEWS!!! The second session this summer will be a large scale mosaic project. Registration forms are now being accepted and all classes are free, mosaic classes will be starting late August, do not miss out on this great opportunity. Call PRAA at 773.342.8865 or email

Studio Arts is an out of school time program aimed at serving youth and children with opportunities to develop their artistic skills. The program is held at PRAA’s Humboldt Park Field House location and targets 30 low-income, at-risk youth from various elementary and high schools with high dropout rates.
As a community-based arts educational center, PRAA Studio Arts is intended specifically to bring arts programming and educational alternatives to our neighborhood teens and children, at no cost to community residents. The educational curriculum features year-round activities including arts instruction, graphic design, puppet making, dance classes, and so much more.
As PRAA continues to build its Studio Arts program, its future goal is to provide in-depth arts education and career-training programs for youth. It is committed to the production, interpretation, and exhibition of art and providing an open forum for experimentation, collaboration, and dialogue about issues in the arts and in the students' communities.
